After some really nice spring like days we are about to pay for it by the bucket load….of rain!!! A storm crossing the country now will tap into some Gulf moisture and converge over the northeast. The rain should start late Friday and come down heavy overnight and into Saturday. There is a slight chance at this time for some convective energy and expect flood watches/warnings.

Thursday, February 18th, 2010 10:30am UTCEnjoy this weekend with sunny sky’s and warm temperatures, it looks as though it will be followed by some more winter weather! Saturday temps will be in the mid 40′s and with the sun shining brightly snow will be melting quickly. As we are close to two thirds done with winter the sun angle and daylight hours increase every day! Daylight is fast approaching eleven hours with the sun rising at almost 6:30am and setting at about 5:30pm.
Next week’s weather is another story however, with the possibility of a large storm with substantial snow. Right now the chance of heavy snow is minimal however an eye to the forecast is definitely warranted. Believe it or not the Mid-Atlantic States could end up with another pounding! What is known right now is that chances are high for a storm, the track and the type of precipitation will be hashed out in the upcoming computer models!
